He is concerned. About his two kids and Amrita. "All I want to do is clear the rumours regarding me," says Saif Ali Khan, whose split with wife Amrita Singh stirred up Bollywood and media circles about a month ago. "It''s true that Amrita and I aren''t staying together. But there''s no bitterness or anguish over it. There have been differences which we decided was best sorted out by parting ways amicably. But wherever I am and whoever I am with, my priority will be my work, my kids and Amrita. I will never let any harm come on them."

Saif would rather not discuss rumours surrounding the new woman in his life. "I would rather not talk too much about any other aspect of my personal life," he says. "Amrita has maintained her silence and I am speaking only to dispel the rumours surrounding how I have left Amrita in a financial lurch. That''s not true at all. I would never let Amrita suffer. And there''s nothing more precious in my life than my kids. I don''t want Amrita to be inconvenienced in any manner. In fact, I want her to be able to live her life the way she has lived so far. As for my parents, they are just as concerned about her as they are about me."

But it''s his two children Saif Ali Khan is concerned about the most. "I think they knew this was going to happen," he says. "In fact, even as we speak, the kids are in my house, playing, and they will go back to Amrita. They can come and go as and when they like, so can Amrita. Mine will be an open house for all of them."
suresh.nair@timesgroup.com
